Prelude: Saturday Test Drive

I took the Tesla for a spin this Saturday to get a feel for her.

I drove 23 miles from my house just north of Berkeley to the Dublin Supercharger to figure out how those work. When I got there at 0730 there were only two other drivers there.

I started with about 70 miles, and in about 20 minutes I had 180 miles. Time to go!

I drove to Santa Clara and had breakfast with my brother, and we drove down to Santa Cruz for some good coffee at Verve (best coffee in downtown Santa Cruz hands down).

After dropping my brother back off in the South Bay I swung by the Dublin Supercharger again. As a new Tesla driver I'm still trying to give myself really big margins of range - I also don't have a charging system set up at my house so I rely on the Superchargers for now.

Supercharging at Dublin

Out of 10 or so chargers, there was only one stall left open when I got to the Supercharger at 1420, and a few more cars pulled up soon after I got there. I read that Dublin came on-line only a few weeks ago, which is nice because it's a long haul to the next Supercharger at Harris Ranch on the 5. For that reason I'll be making one last top-off at Dublin on my way out of town for good on Thursday.

I finished the day by swinging by coworker Ashley's warehome in West Oakland and checked out her shipping container that she and Dave are retrofitting into a home. So rad!

Then back home - I probably won't drive again until Thursday when I take off for good.
